Frosted Holiday Angels
Even the littlest angel in your family can help decorate these fun edible treats.
Prep time: 1 hour Makes: 8 angels
Ingredients:
- Frosting: 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup Land O Lakes ® butter (softened), 1 tsp vanilla, 2-3 tbsp milk, food coloring
- Angel body: sugar ice cream cones
- Wings: small or large pretzel twists
- Head: chocolate or vanilla wafer cookies
- Hair: toasted coconut
- Halo: fruit-flavored ring-shaped candies
- Decorations: mini candy-coated chocolate pieces, decorator candies or sprinkles, decorator gels and frostings, gumdrops, mini chocolate chips, etc.
Directions:
- To toast coconut: Spread coconut in shallow pan. Bake at 350° for 7-10 minutes, stirring often, or until lightly browned.
- Combine all frosting ingredients, except milk and food coloring, in small mixer bowl. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, and adding enough milk for desired frosting consistency (1-2 minutes).
- Tint frosting with food coloring as desired in pastel colors. Reserve some white frosting for attaching head, hair and face.
- For each angel, place sugar cone on waxed paper, point-side up. Frost outside of cone. Attach pretzel twist on cone to make wings. Decorate angel body as desired with decorator gels, frostings, and candies. Let stand 5-10 minutes to set frosting.
- For angel head, decorate wafer cookie with candies using frosting to attach eyes, nose and mouth. Attach head to cone with frosting. For hair, attach coconut with frosting. Let stand until frosting is set (5-10 minutes).
- Attach ring-shaped candy for halo.
