Restaurant news from throughout Greater Orlando
- Food Network has announced that six Orlando eateries will be featured over four upcoming episodes of Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. The restaurants, which were visited by Fieri when he was in town earlier this year, include The Meatball Stoppe, Mrs. Potato, The Pastrami Project, Saigon Noodle and Grill, Se7en Bites and Willie’s Pinchos.
- In April, the Emeril Lagasse Foundation Kitchen House & Culinary Garden opened in College Park. A result of a partnership with the celebrity chef, the new house includes a 3,500-square-foot commercial kitchen and a garden designed for school field trips, cooking classes and community gardening.
- At the end of April, Disney Springs’ Portobello Country Italian Trattoria closed in advance of a major refurbishment. The restaurant will be working with James Beard Award-winning chef Tony Mantuano to develop a new Italian concept featuring a family-style menu.
- In March, two new restaurants were announced for Winter Garden. First, Miller’s Ale House will be opening a location there, and fast-casual Tex-Mex eatery The Whole Enchilada will set up shop on trendy Plant Street. The Whole Enchilada is scheduled to open this fall, with Miller’s debut to be determined.
- Darden Restaurants, Orlando’s only Fortune 500 company, revealed in March that it was adding the Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen family of restaurants to its portfolio. Specializing in value-priced dishes, Cheddar’s currently operates more than 160 locations, including two in the metro area.
