The Complete Package
Evergreen Lawn & Pest Control offers a wide range of services to beautify and protect a home, and a friendly and attentive staff to boot.
In an age when customer service seems to be lacking across the board, Evergreen Lawn & Pest Control can be considered somewhat of a throwback. There are many reasons why the company has been going strong as an industry leader for more than three decades, but the friendliness of its employees and the personal attention they provide to each client are certainly at the top of the list.
“It’s about more than just going out there and doing lawn care, pest control or applying a product,” says Jeff Vance, general manager of Evergreen’s Central Florida location. “We really try to build a relationship with our customers. I remember when I started in the industry, I was on my route for a long time, and I watched my customers’ kids go to college and get married. Those are the things that are most important to me. We do not just provide a service and forget about you: We are here for you through the course of whatever you need.”
That courtesy doesn’t just apply to the technicians in the field, either. Any questions, concerns or issues are just a phone call away from being addressed and resolved.
“We make sure everybody is taken care of,” says Kendall Pigue, a member of the sales and customer service team. “We have a full office staff that is willing to help at any given time. Our managers will even personally go out to properties to check up on them to make sure everything looks good.”
Those old-fashioned values are complemented by a commitment to the latest technological advancements and the most eco-friendly products available. Evergreen employs a technical director to focus on any potential breakthroughs in the industry, and has certified operators in every field who train the technicians individually on a weekly basis and collectively once a month.
The company has also forged a partnership with the University of Florida to stay up to date on its most current agronomic recommendations.
“For example, through that partnership we found out that we were not fertilizing properly. The University of Florida suggests having a good balance of liquid and granular fertilizer to protect the environment, so we implemented that right away,” Vance says. “We also discovered moisture-management products that cut your watering down by 50%. There are watering restrictions all over our area, so that was a big help for our customers to reduce their water needs.
“I think that is what separates us from our competitors: We can react to cutting-edge advancements and make those adjustments immediately.”
Homeowners appreciate that Evergreen is not only providing the best results for their lawn, but also looking to protect their families.
“We offer customized solutions tailored for local conditions, so our customers really like that because it suits their property’s needs,” Pigue says. “Our treatment is environmentally friendly, and children- and pet-friendly.”
Evergreen is a one-stop shop that often ends up handling a wide array of services for each customer. Vance says fall is a great time to aerate the lawn, to feed it with fertilizer and to treat it with fungicides to prevent grassy weeds from invading come January. But with rodents also being a nuisance this time of year, the company can provide pest control without the rodenticides used in the past that caused environmental damage.
“We have a different approach—we prevent the rodent from entering the home by sealing up entry points and putting screens on your vent pipes as well as your dryer vents,” he adds. “Our goal is for a rodent-free home. If you have rodents present, then we will capture and remove them for a sage, clean and comfortable home.”
Of course, insects can be a problem throughout the year, so Evergreen offers thorough inspections and has eco-friendly products to eliminate ants, mosquitoes and other bugs that may find their way into the home. On top of that, by bundling pest control with a termite plan, customers can have peace of mind knowing that the expensive damage termites cause can be stopped before it starts.
“Other companies will only monitor your termite stations annually,” Vance says. “Our method is to check those stations six times a year, because a termite colony can eat 32 ounces of wood a day, so within two months you could have a wall fall down. In order to prevent that scenario from happening, we have a program that bundles everything together, so we can take care of all of your pest needs and monitor your stations more frequently. If termites are present, we are going to locate that station in 31 days and within six months you will have colony elimination.”
Vance, who has been in the industry since 1996 in multiple states, clearly has a passion for his profession. He knows he has found his permanent home in Florida, working for a locally owned company that has been a fixture in Orlando for 30-plus years.
“My family and I love this area, and we love being part of this community,” he says. “My goal is for our company to handle pretty much anything that you need done outside, so you can enjoy your family and enjoy your time.”
