Palate October 2017

Top 5: Nachos A tasty quintet of tasty things to try this month

SHRIMP AND CRAB NACHOS
AT MARLOW’S TAVERN, WINTER PARK
Take things up a notch with the Shrimp and Crab Nachos appetizer at Marlow’s Tavern. Fresh shrimp and lump crab is sautéed and blended with jalapeños and spicy pepper jack cheese, before being generously placed atop softbaked tortilla sliders.

SUSHI NACHOS
AT SUSHI LOLA’S, ROWENA GARDENS
The sashimi is tasty at Sushi Lola’s, but we are fixated on a different type of treat here. Their Sushi Nachos are made with seasoned crab chips, and fresh fish is mixed with jalapeños and a special house-made spicy sauce to form the ultimate triple threat.

NACHOS GRANDE
AT B.B. KING’S, I-DRIVE
The only blues you’ll feel will be in the music when you order their specialty, Nachos Grande. Fresh, house-made corn tortillas are home to B.B.’s signature BBQ sauce and three types of cheeses, along with pico, onions and your choice of meat.

TOTCHOS
AT TOOTHSOME CHOCOLATE EMPORIUM & SAVORY FEAST KITCHEN, UNIVERSAL’S CITYWALK
Chocolate abounds at this quirky CityWalk dig, but we recommend the Totchos appetizer to break up the sweet. Fried tater tots are the foundation for spicy chilies, pork belly, andouille sausage and cheddar cheese.

GUADALAJARA SPECIAL NACHOS
AT GARIBALDI MEXICAN RESTAURANT, BALDWIN PARK
Pair your margarita with one of our favorites from Garibaldi’s. Their Guadalajara Nachos are made with grilled chicken, shrimp, sautéed onions and other veggies, all smothered in melted cheese and a house-made mango sauce.

Raise a Glass: Tropical Drinks

VERY BERRY MARTINI
AT OLLIE’S PUBLIC HOUSE, COLLEGE PARK
Satisfy your daily fruit requirements with this entry from Ollie’s Public House. This drink blends Pinnacle blueberry and raspberry vodkas together with blue curacao and cranberry cocktail for a multi-level, antioxidant-infused punch.

CRISP CUCUMBER MARTINI

AT THE RUSTY SPOON, DOWNTOWN ORLANDO
Escape the endless humidity with a Crisp Cucumber Martini at The Rusty Spoon. Effen cucumber vodka is shaken, not stirred, with St- Germain Liqueur and fresh-squeezed citrus and garnished with a thinly sliced cucumber.

KEY LIME PIE MARTINI
AT TOMMY BAHAMA RESTAURANT & BAR, POINTE ORLANDO
Try this southern staple in tantalizing drink form at Tommy Bahama’s. Rich Van Gogh Blue is blended with Licor 43, KeKe beach liqueur and fresh limes to make a tartly sweet martini that is finished with a graham cracker crusted rim.
