Side Dish October 2017

Restaurant news from throughout Greater Orlando…

• Celebration will become the first area in Greater Orlando to receive a cookie dough shop from owners Angela and Derek Plaisted this fall. Their store, Wonderland Cookie Dough, will offer safely edible cookie dough in plenty of flavors, and will also cater to those in need of gluten-free and sugarfree options.

• The first casual take-out Vietnamese restaurant is slated to open for business this fall. LePho will occupy space in Downtown Orlando and adds new variety to the current options for lunch. Manager Emma Le-Tran promises to offer both traditional and inventive dishes, including an all-in-one rice bowl and Vietnamese coffee.

• Popular local food truck Little Blue Donut Co. is taking the leap to open their first store-front location in The Villages of Winter Park. Known for their inventive custom doughnuts, this renowned business will take the current place of Scratch restaurant. Owners Michael and Alyse Perfetto hope to expand the menu, but specifics are still being ironed out.

• Large-chain coffee shops may become smaller contenders in Greater Orlando’s caffeine scene. Paloma Coffee Co. opened in Windermere recently and has quickly become a popular destination thanks to its blend (no pun intended) of coffee, espresso and tea along with baked goods from local purveyors.
