Vacation Fun Peaks at Stone Mountain Park

Summer means longer, sunshine-filled days and opportunities to create family memories. For Orlando area parents looking to escape town for a different experience, Stone Mountain Park is a perfect getaway ─ just a day’s drive north and minutes away from Metro Atlanta.

The park is a one-stop-shop for family getaways. Recognized as Georgia’s most visited vacation spot, it includes more than a dozen attractions, historical and natural sights, two Marriott hotels, Georgia’s largest campground, two championship golf courses, and expansive natural woodlands with hiking trails. The park is also home to the world’s longest running lasershow! Stone Mountain Park is highlighted by two seasonal main events: the Nightly Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision® and Summer At The Rock.

Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision®

This summer, Stone Mountain Park is rolling out a bigger and better Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision. The show, FREE with park admission, features enhanced components to delight everyone in the family, including 45 minutes of dazzling fireworks, lights, and laser effects, all choreographed to great music. Mountainvision technology, introduced in 2011, features 3D-like effects without 3D glasses, bringing state-of-the-art, multi-dimensional magic to one of the world’s biggest outdoor screens ─ the mountain itself. The best way to view the new Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision is from the comfort and convenience of the VIP Terrace seating which offers snacks and casual dining options. The show’s new improvements debut on May 24 and run nightly through August 3.

Summer At The Rock

It’s one adventure after another as Stone Mountain Park presents Summer At The Rock! The excitement begins at the new Animal Grossology exhibit. This 16-piece interactive display allows guests to experience some of the stinkiest, slimiest, and downright yuckiest creatures on earth. Visitors will learn why the dung beetle is considered nature’s original pooper scooper, why cows chew cud, and why snail and slug slime might provide scientists with more insight into treating cystic fibrosis. Summer At The Rock also features live shows and family fun activities. Parents and kids alike have the opportunity to cool off with the Water Works! show. But watch out, you may get wet! Back by popular demand, Wake The Bear, an interactive improv show, steers the action when three explorers return to base camp only to realize that it has become a favorite napping spot for a large bear. The littlest guests will love to clap and laugh along with a fearless adventurer as he tells of his remarkable expeditions during Adventure Tales storytelling. Summer At The Rock runs daily May 24 to August 3.
