Back to School “WOW” Board
With the end of summer vacation (sigh…) comes the start of a new school year. Soon your child will be working on new projects and accomplishing new things. But instead of just hanging your child’s important academic, artistic, and sporting accomplishments with a standard, run-of-the-mill refrigerator magnet, why not feature these milestones on a personal WOW Board made with the help of your super achiever?
All you need is:
- A lightweight wooden picture frame
- Elmer’s Glue
- Some Acrylic Paint
- Paintbrushes
- Sharpies or Paint Pens
- 2 Clothespins
- 4 Round Magnets
Directions:
- Choose your child’s favorite color as the base coat for the wooden border of the frame.
- If the wood is still visible, you may want to paint a second coat. Make sure to let both coats dry completely.
- Pick two contrasting colors to paint your clothespins.
- Using Elmer’s glue, attach one round magnet to each of the four corners on the back of the frame and let dry.
- With either sharpies or paint pens, write your child’s name on the top front section of the frame. On the bottom of the frame write 2012-13 and your child’s grade.
- Decorate the left and right sides of the frame anyway you like.
- After all pieces are dry, use glue to attach your clothes pins on the bottom of the board.
- Put a picture of your child in the frame and place the special “WOW” Board on your refrigerator or other metal surface to let your child proudly display his or her work during the upcoming school year.
