Ghostly Ghouls
Make these cheerful Halloween ghosties and your trick or treating will be fearfully fun
What you’ll need:
- Tissue paper or cheesecloth
- Round balloons
- Drinking glass (to use as stands)
- White craft glue
- Water
- Bowl
- Paintbrush
- Large wiggle eyes
- Battery operated tea lights (found in craft store)
- Scissors
How to make it:
- Partially blow up balloons, (water balloons size works well) big enough to fit in one hand (about the size of a large orange).
- Place balloon, tied end down, on top of a glass.
- Mix 1 part water and 2 parts white glue in bowl to make a paintable mixture.
- Tear or cut tissue paper/cheesecloth into strips long enough to drape over your balloon with strips ends hitting the table.
- Paint the top of the balloon with the glue mixture. Place a strip of material across the balloon and paint more mixture over the top of the fabric wetting the strips all the way to the end.
- Continue this process, crossing fabric over itself to cover all sides. Let it dry completely.
- Pinch just above knot in balloon and trim know off. Let the air out of the balloon slowly. Carefully peel it out of the material mold.
- Trim the ends of the material so that the ghouls will stand up by themselves.
- Glue wiggle eyes on the front. (Can also use magic marker to make eyes, cut out, and glue to ghost.)
- Wait until it starts to get dark and put your spooky ghost over a battery operated tea light and watch it glow.
Tips:
- Do not use regular tea lights as this is a fire hazard! Only use battery operated tea lights to illuminate these ghouls.
- If you would like to hang these ghouls, use a sewing needle threaded with white thread and poke through the top.
- If ghost is not stiff enough to stand by itself, put tea light in a glass and place inside the ghost.
