Restaurant news from throughout Greater Orlando.
• In September, Tavistock Restaurant Collection opened Chroma Modern Bar + Kitchen, a modern-American eatery in Lake Nona Town Center. Overseen by Executive Chef Jason Bergeron, who recently competed on Food Network’s Chopped Grill Masters, the restaurant primarily serves small plates. The 256-seat eatery will also offer seven private-label wines and local draft beers.
• Construction is now underway on the Delaney Tavern and 54-room Delaney Hotel. The restaurant and boutique hotel are being built in a converted three-story building on the corner of S. Orange Avenue and Copeland Drive. The tavern is planned as an American-style gastropub with craft beers and a full bar.
• As part of the Downtown Orlando Tours initiative, the Downtown Orlando Partnership recently debuted a Crafty Cocktail Tour in the Central Business District. Participants can explore some of downtown’s most popular adult-beverage locations while enjoying a unique cocktail experience. The tour runs each Saturday from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and participating locations include Bauhaus, Courtesy Bar, Dapper Duck, Hen House and The Woods.
• A second new initiative launched under the Downtown Orlando Tours umbrella is the Thornton Park Food Tour, which runs the second Saturday of each month from 4-6 p.m. in partnership with the Thornton Park District and Thornton Park Restaurant Group. Tour participants will be guided through the trendy Thornton Park area and receive tastings from Anthony’s Pizzeria and Italian Restaurant, Baoery Asian Gastropub, Shari and Soco.
• Harriet Adamik, owner of longtime Orlando icon Mama B’s Giant Subs, has announced plans to retire and has put her shops up for sale. At press time, Adamik was in negotiations with an interested buyer, but it’s not yet known if the potential new owner is interested in the sub business or just the properties.
