25th Florida Film Festival
Sponsored by Full Sail University and presented by the Enzian Theater, the 25th Florida Film Festival takes place April 8-17. It will consist of approximately 170 films plus parties and other related events, including the opportunity for attendees to mingle with filmmakers and celebrities over cocktails and food at the theater’s Eden Bar.
The Florida Film Festival has in the past attracted such stars as Susan Sarandon, Sam Rockwell, Jon Voight, Glenn Close, Oliver Stone and Tippi Hedren, among others. It was created as an alternative to commercial film festivals and premieres current, independent and international cinema. The event is open to films of all lengths and genres, including experimental, narrative, animation and documentary. Its primary mission is to support and promote culture and the arts in Greater Orlando while simultaneously championing artists’ rights of expression and free speech.
The Enzian Theater, established in 1985, has a long-running history and is accordingly a familiar place for local film buffs. In addition to running critically acclaimed features and documentaries, the venue also offers food and beverages, and the cushioned seats are designed to provide moviegoers with ample room on either side.
All pass and package holders received an invitation to the Film Announcement Party, which took place on March 16. This year’s complete program, which includes many films suitable for the whole family, can be found at FloridaFilmFestival.com.
