Featured Event: Festival of Trees 2016
Our pick for the best event happening in Greater Orlando this November
Presented by the Council of 101, and benefiting and located at the Orlando Museum of Art, the Festival of Trees will mark its 30th year when it takes place on November 12-20.
Founded in 1965, the Council of 101 is comprised of nearly 300 female volunteers. In partnership with hundreds of sponsors, the group has contributed in excess of $6.8 million toward art, exhibits, facility renovations and expansion programs at the museum, as well as for art-education programs for children in the Central Florida area.
This year’s theme is “The Art of the Holidays.” As always, the event will feature designer-decorated trees, holiday wreaths, gingerbread houses, holiday vignettes and tabletop displays. Visitors also have the option to buy any trees they like. Furthermore, door prizes will include dinner certificates, table settings, artwork and spa packages.
The Festival of Trees will also include boutiques offering a variety of gifts, making it a great place for attendees to do some holiday shopping. Guests can also enjoy food and refreshments at the Festival Café while enjoying daily entertainment from local talent, such as school choirs and professional dance groups.
Special events at this year’s outing will include an opening gala with dinner, dancing and entertainment on November 11 (7-11 p.m.; $150 per person), a seniors’ day on November 15 ($10 for seniors aged 65 and up), and a children’s party on November 16 (5:30-8 p.m.; $25 all ages). On all other days, regular admission is $15 for adults; $10 for seniors, museum members, military and first responders (with ID); and $5 for children, and includes admission to other current exhibitions. On-site parking is $5.
