ABOUT ORLANDO FAMILY MAGAZINE

Orlando Family Magazine is a free, monthly publication designed to inform, serve and enrich families throughout the Central Florida area with parenting ideas, fun family activities and a wide variety of invaluable resource guides. The magazine is mailed directly to 24,000 families with children living in the home in the Central Florida market (including, but not limited to, the Southwest, Central and Metro Orlando areas).

EDITORIAL CONTENT

Our editorial content is focused toward parents with children ages 0 to15. We prefer articles which can be localized to the Central Florida area, but we will consider topics that relate to families in general. We look for pieces covering issues concerning today’s parents, local family excursions, traditions, crafts, family fun, education and health & fitness. Featured articles require careful research, independent reporting and well developed story lines. Each monthly issue is focused around a particular theme, Editorial Calendar, as well as a variety of regular departments: Family Fun, Traditions, Kids Korner, Making a Difference, Health and Wellness, Movie Review, Growing up Online, Book Buzz and Calendar of Events. SUBMISSIONS

We welcome freelance writers to submit their articles by Email to editorial@OrlandoFamilyMagazine.com or by mail to Orlando Family Magazine, LLC., Attention: Editorial Submissions , 212 Pasadena Place, Suite B, Orlando, Florida 32803. All items submitted shall become the property of Orlando Family Magazine, LLC and will not be returned. Articles that are sent via email must be sent in MS Word format. Manuscripts should include the author’s name, address, daytime phone number, title or article, word count, and the rights you are granting to the magazine (First North American Serial Rights preferred), and a short bio (one to two sentences) on the first page. We expect writers to double-check their facts and be able to vouch for every phone number, Web address and name spelling in a story. We also request a list of sources with contact phone numbers, for fact-checking purposes. When granting First North American Rights, you are granting to Orlando Family Magazine, LLC the right to publish the article in the English Language in North America, both in print and digital versions of the magazine. You are also granting Orlando Family Magazine, LLC the right to archive the work in an online version of the magazine for an indefinite period of time.

The editor reserves the right to edit for clarity, length and styles. We do not purchase articles from writers who are published by our competitors. For reprint offers, please inform us of where the material has been published. No phone calls please. We assume no responsibility for unsolicited manuscripts. We do not pay for fillers, photographs and sidebars. Examples include short, humorous anecdotes about family or which fit into any of the regular departments, or practical sidebars with projects, tips or other suggestions for families to try. If the filler material that is being submitted has already been printed, indicate where and when the filler first appeared on the cover sheet of the submission.

ONLINE PUBLICATION

Orlando Family Magazine provides a copy of its printed issues online. All editorial submissions that are purchased will also be posted on our website www.OrlandoFamilyMagazine.com. Orlando Family Magazine does not allow for the online redistribution or republishing of the editorial submission. We will forward all reprint requests directly to the writer.

DEADLINES

All work must be submitted at least 3 months prior to the issue date. Please refer to the Editorial Calendar for specific dates.

PAYMENT

We will respond only to those articles we are considering for publication. Fees vary depending on length and depth of the story. Original manuscripts for feature articles generally pay $50-$75 and reprints pay $25-$40. Payments are made (along w/tear sheet) within the first month of publication for the article.

Prior to publication, we will ask you to sign a contract warranting that the work submitted is your original work, that you are granting to Orlando Family Magazine, LLC all of the rights set forth herein, and agreeing that you will not submit work to any other publication in the Central Florida area, and that you will not submit the work to any other family publication in North America for a period of 90 days following the expiration of the calendar month in which the article was published by Orlando Family Magazine, LLC.
